The wrinkling and sagging of the upper eyelids and the pouches under
the eyes are often the first perceptible signs of ageing,
although pronounced eye bags and
excessive upper hoods are a hereditary condition that can be seen in
men and women from as young as their twenties.
Puffy bags, wrinkles and folds of skin around the eyes can have a
terrible
ageing effect and is most apparent on an otherwise
young face. As facial features are always on display, a
consequence of this condition can be a loss of self-esteem, not
least for those whose career involves direct contact with
business clients.
To counter a tired and haggard look caused by pronounced eye
bags, the surgeon can perform an operation known as a
blepharoplasty. For lower eye bags, the procedure
entails
removing the stretched skin and excess fat deposits under
the
eyes. An incision is made just under the eyelashes along
the
length of the eye. The fatty deposits and loose skin
are then removed
and the two new edges brought back
together and
sutured into place.
The incision line heals
very quickly and becomes unnoticeable,
with a totally
natural look.
Upper eye hoods can become so stretched and long
that they infringe on a
person’s range of vision, hanging
over the far corner of the eyes or pushing
down the lid
with the weight of the surplus skin. To remove this
skin, an
incision is made along the length of the
upper eye where the natural
crease is formed.
The excess skin is removed and the two edges
brought back together and sutured into place.
The incision line heals
very quickly and is hidden in
the natural crease of the eye.
