Patients can opt to have only lower or only upper eye bags removed,
which can usually be performed as a day case
operation under either local
anaesthetic with sedation or general
anaesthetic, subject to a surgeon’s
recommendation. Upper
and lower eye bags can also be removed as one
operation, usually under general anaesthetic.
The result of eye bag removal surgery goes beyond outward
appearance.
Patients grow in confidence as the years drop off them
and people extend compliments about their new youthful, ealthy looks. From previously avoiding
eye contact, they will
now hold their head high when speaking to
people, and that
self-assurance goes on to reap dividends in the
workplace. Very often
blepharoplasty patients also go on to
change their hairstyle or colour, and even their
wardrobe;
highlighting how they feel about
themselves once the aged,
tired look has been erased.
Post Operative Healing
Upper or lower eye bag surgery can usually be performed
as a
day case, but the joint operation of upper and
lower
blepharoplasty usually involves a one night stay in
hospital.
The sutures (stitches) are usually removed after
7
– 10 days, if they are not dissolvable. During this
time the patient
will experience some bruising and
swelling, but generally this
will have disappeared by
the time the sutures are removed.
Any evidence
of surgery can normally be disguised
by the patient wearing dark
glasses for the initial
period post-surgery. |
